What does a UQR, aka Usern Quick Read provide its writers with?
You are probably familiar with numerous benefits of non-academic writing like; eliminating stress, being more productive and aware, mental exercise, being focused, and having a lot of written memories. But what about scientific writing? Is there any unique benefit, which should be mentioned?
For a lot of people, scientific writing seems to be exhausting at first glance since a lot of instructions -helping you to build your knowledge and skills as a scientific writer regardless of the scientific discipline you are studying or the specific assignment you might be working on- should be followed, the process appears to be difficult and tedious.
I want you to look at some other aspects of scientific writing; it may be a day of change.
Writing in science gives you motivation and peer support. It is common for students to write in solitude, but writing for a community provides you with the fantastic experience of being heard. You will probably receive feedback and group discussions about your writing. The central principle for any communication is to 'know your audience.' UQR provides you a huge group of enthusiastic audiences, which are waiting to hear from you. Remember that a research paper is not just about presenting information, it is about communicating with others. The reader wants to become more aware of the subject and decide: Is this an interesting or relevant matter for me? Do I want to read more? In conclusion, you provide your audience with interesting UQRs, and they will encourage you or even destructively criticize you. A win-win situation!
Writing a UQR helps you in being more precise and clear. In the case of scientific writing, the gaps in the reasoning or lack of clarity are the worst happenings. According to the philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer, unclear writing indicates fuzzy thinking, and everything that can be thought can also be said in exact words. From a more general perspective, scientific writing is a process of organizing and shaping information.
UQR is a platform to practice avoiding plagiarism. Despite various efforts by courses and library resources, we are often faced with the frustration of student plagiarism and related writing problems. A simple Writing in Your Voice helps you become more aware of different types of plagiarism and writing problems, avoid those problems, and practice writing in your voice.
You will learn the structures of scientific writing by writing UQRs. An article must be readable in all parts. Nobody wants to get stuck all the time and ask oneself questions like: “What is this now? Did I miss something?” But what does readability precisely mean? And then, by which means can we accomplish readability? You will confront with all these questions during the process of writing. The answers improve your abilities as a writer day by day.
Last but not least, writing UQRs changes how you feel about your writing. I find that writing in science can be a lot of fun and gives you a huge sense of accomplishment.
